Fiona Valentine Thomann, Inside multivers 70%

Inside Multivers, 37.2" from the 'Cosmic Paradigm' series is a digital collage combining photographs of spores from the hallucinogenic mushroom Golden Teacher, cross-sections of DNA B, and the artist's iris. DNA B acts as a lace connecting each element in the composition. Inspired by anthropologist Jeremy Narby's book, 'The Cosmic Serpent, DNA and the Origins of Knowledge,' the artwork plays with the scale of irises, evoking a planetary imagination and forming multiverses. Inviting contemplation, it resonates with an inner journey. A mirror reflects the exhibition space, and the central collage prevents Narcissus from falling into the water.

Thomann's multimedia installations have been exhibited in two solo shows at Exgirlfriend Gallery in Berlin, at Château du Fey, France (2018), Haus der Elektronischen Künste in Basel (2018), Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilia, y São Paulo (2018). She has been recognized with the Linossier Prize, France (2012), the New Positions in Art Cologne, Germany (2019).
