MIRJAM BAKER
Geb. 1985 in Melk, Österreich, lebt und arbeitet in Köln
Mirjam Baker erwarb den Master of Arts in Animation am Royal College of Art, London.
MIRJAM BAKER
Born in Melk, Austria, in 1985; lives and works in Cologne
Mirjam Baker completed a Master of Arts in Animation at the Royal College of Art, London.
MIRJAM BAKER is an artist and film-maker. She has already won numerous awards for her animated films. Her new 13-minute film “Staub” is based on almost 200 pastel drawings. BAKER created the monochrome works with innovative, extra-fine pastel colours that permit exceptionally nuanced colour effects. The pastel drawings created in this way are astonishing in their density and spatial depth.
In the film sequence, these individual pictures are condensed into pulsating colour spaces that carry space and time relationships into a whole new dimension. This gives rise to a “colour film” in the truest sense of the word. Developed with bass flautist Angelika Sheridan, the soundtrack’s dynamic monotony ties in with the animated monochromy of these coloured areas.
